Summary
- Born, DC. Bachelor’s, NYU (BFA). MD, MUSC. Residency/Fellowship at Case Western's University Hospitals of Cleveland (with Drs. José Suarez, Hans Lüders, David Preston, Mohamad Koubeissi, Henry Kaminski, R. John Leigh, Bob Daroff, on and on and on, just to name a few -- the freaking perfect neurohospitalist training crew!).
AAN member since 2005. Neurohospitalist since 2009, first with the Cleveland Clinic, and since 2012, with Providence Everett, outside of Seattle, helping my ~600-bed hospital always take top AHA Stroke honors. w00t. Medical Director of our Neurohospitalist Team and our EEG Lab since 2017.
Besides inpatients, I work System TeleNeurology/Stroke shifts in 8 states, and read EEGs/cEEGs. I work with regional partners.
I have a very strong sense of justice, and sometimes even enjoy fighting for fairness. I’ve served on Ethics Committees for over a decade.
I cannot stand the word, "leadership." (Somehow, I always hear G.W. Bush in my head saying it, when I hear it....) My idea of ‘leadership’ is a pragmatist-John-Deweyish one, a decentralized 'lead-by-example' one. ... I.e, we are all 'leaders.'
