Summary
- I am a medical oncologist and a palliative care & integrative medicine physician. I joined Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) as the Executive Director, Cancer Care Equity and Professional Wellness. In this role, I focus on key overarching areas of our mission: (1) to reduce cancer outcomes disparities and diversify clinical trial participation within SCRI’s combined research network of over more than 1,300 physicians at over 250 locations in 24 states across the US providing care for about 1.4 million people with cancer, and (2) build the organization’s healthcare professional well-being program to support multidisciplinary oncology research professionals in the community.
Prior to joining SCRI in 2023, I spent nearly 12 years at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, most recently as an Associate Professor in the Division of Cancer Medicine. After my residency in Internal Medicine, I completed clinical fellowships in Developmental Therapeutics, Medical Oncology, and Palliative Medicine, all at MD Anderson, before joining the faculty there.
With this expertise in geriatric oncology, symptom management, palliative care, and healthcare professional well-being, I have over a decade of experience leading teams in developing and implementing organization-wide programs to improve cancer care and clinical workplace experience, including leading their integration of patient reported outcomes-based remote symptom monitoring.
