Summary
- Dr. Emma Fattakhov is a palliative care physician in Middletown, NY.
She started her career working as an obstetrician, introducing newborns to the world. Later, as an emergency physician, she resuscitated countless lives. After undertaking further training in geriatrics and palliative care, she discovered that caring for patients at the end of life is the most challenging and rewarding endeavor. As director of a palliative care department, she build an educational curriculum for medical student, residents and nurses. Dr. Fattakhov expanded the reach of palliative care from the hospital to multiple health care facilities in the surrounding counties. She is especially passionate about providing care to vulnerable patient populations. In her work, Dr. Fattakhov developed a framework and network of care for intellectually disabled patients. She is a champion of bringing the latest and most modern techniques of palliative care and pain management to her patients. As a member of the New York State MOLST Executive Committe, Dr. Fattakhov’s palliative care department was among the first in the country to incorporate eMOLST (electronic Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment) into an electronic medical system.
