- Dr. Rome, Head of the Center for Adolescent Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Children’s, is a board certified pediatrician and among the first board certified in Adolescent Medicine. Dr. Rome received her undergraduate degree in psychology, magna cum laude from Yale, medical degree and Alpha Omega Alpha from Case, then did residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by a 3 year fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Children’s Hospital, Boston. She obtained a masters degree in Public Health at the Harvard University School of Public Health. Dr. Rome then joined the Cleveland Clinic, where she now is a Professor of Pediatrics at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case. Dr. Rome has served as two term president of the International Federation of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (FIGIJ), with over 6000 members, and is past president of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG), FIGIJ’s North American counterpart. She has served on the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Committee on Adolescence, has chaired the Subcommittee on Eating Disorders for the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM), serves on SAHM’s finance committee and on the Medical Care Task Force for the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED). As president of the Women’s Professional Staff at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Rome helped create and implement a business plan to recruit, develop, and promote the best staff. Over the past decade, Dr. Rome has served as medical liaison to public health efforts occurring at the Cleveland Clinic and its surrounding communities. She is the author of two books collaboratively with Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Mike Roizen, You: The Owner’s Manual for Teens, and You Raising Your Child from First Breath to First Grade. She won the Kaiser Award for Teaching Excellence in 2012 and the Mt. Zion Award for Community Service in Adolescent Medicine in 2013. She has been an invited speaker locally, nationally, and internationally.
