Dr. Desmond Sutton is a healthcare quality and patient safety leader with expertise in maternal-fetal medicine, hospital operations, and policy development. As Director of Obstetric Quality & Patient Safety and Medical Director of Labor & Delivery at Mount Sinai West, he spearheads system-wide quality initiatives, improving maternal outcomes and optimizing perinatal care.

He has successfully led interdisciplinary initiatives that reduced NTSV cesarean rates, implemented high-reliability safety programs, and developed evidence-based policies standardizing obstetric care across multiple hospitals. As Chair of the MSHS Perinatal Policy Committee, he drives the development of clinical guidelines that align with national safety and accreditation standards (Joint Commission, ACOG, CMS).
