- Dr. David Kwon is a board-certified surgeon and fellowship-trained surgical oncologist in the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, HFHS Campus. Dr. Kwon received his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Columbia University. He earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Kwon completed his residency in general surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he received multiple research and clinical awards. He went on to complete a surgical oncology fellowship from the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center where he developed clinical expertise in providing multidisciplinary care of cancer patients. Dr. Kwon's clinical interests focus on the care and surgical management of patients with upper gastrointestinal malignancies, including gastric, duodenal, biliary, and pancreatic cancers. His research focus is surgical quality of care, outcomes, and racial disparities. Dr. Kwon hopes to translate his findings to improve the overall care of cancer patients.
