Summary
- As Professor of Radiology in the Abdominal Imaging section and Director of Prostate MRI, Dr. Margolis oversees all clinical aspects of prostate magnetic resonance imaging as they relate to the detection and characterization of prostate cancer for targeted biopsy, surgery and radiation planning, treatment follow-up, and active surveillance, resulting in multiple publications demonstrating the effectiveness of prostate MRI for clinical management. This experience has resulted an appointment to the American College of Radiology Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data Systems steering committee as well as invited lectures at the Society of Abdominal Radiology, International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and Radiological Society of North America, as well as lectures abroad. Having completed the K30 Graduate Training Program in Translational Investigation at UCLA provides expertise in clinical trial design incorporating medical imaging in addition to designing the imaging protocol itself. Collaboration with physicists at Cornell and UCLA and affiliated institutions has produced new and innovative pulse sequences and image post-processing. Additionally, as Chair of the Institutional Review Board, Dr. Margolis provides guidance towards successful activation of ethically designed human subjects research. He received his medical degree from University of Southern California School of Medicine and has been in practice 23 years. He also speaks multiple languages, including Spanish and Swedish. He specializes in abdominal imaging and is experienced in prostate magnetic resonance imaging, tumor imaging, and vascular ultrasonography. He has more than 100 publications and over 500 citings.
