Summary

  • I am a pediatric urologist at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) and a tenured Professor of Urology, Pediatrics, and OB/GYN at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), and a “physicianeer” with 25 years of experience in both medicine and engineering. I completed my MBA degree at University of Illinois Gies College of Business in May 2023. I also served as the Director of the ACGME-accredited Pediatric Urology Fellowship Program from 2014 - 2023. I also serve as the Director of the Pediatric Robotic Surgery Program, Associate Director for Urology for the TCH Fetal Center, Urology point person for Oncofertility, and the BCM Faculty Senate Chair Elect and will serve as Chair from 7/2025-6/2027. My current primary research area is in pediatric medical device engineering and innovation, as the FDA has recognized that pediatric devices lag adult device development by at least 5 – 10 years. I am the founder, executive director and contact principal investigator (PI) of the Southwest-Midwest National Pediatric Device Innovation Consortium (SWPDC) based at TCH / BCM which is supported by a renewed 5-year $7M FDA P50 grant
