Summary
- I am a head and neck surgical oncologist and physician leader at Ochsner Health in New Orleans. I am privileged to currently serve as the Regional Medical Director for Ochsner South Shore, where I focus on the continued growth of the Group Practice and the strategic evolution of our destination, academic, and value-based programs at Ochsner Medical Center, Ochsner Baptist, and our Clearview and Elmwood facilities. I remain clinically active with a practice focused on thyroid cancer, advanced cutaneous malignancy (including melanoma), salivary gland tumors, and parathyroid disease.
Prior to serving as RMD, I led the cancer service line for Ochsner Health and was the inaugural director of the Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center. I was System Chair of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Communication Sciences from 2015 until 2022 during a period of significant growth where we were able to continue the department’s legacy of excellence reflected in its regular listing among the Top 50 ENT programs by U.S. News and World Report.
I am a proud native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and I completed by BA and MD degrees at Tulane University, followed by a residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Vanderbilt University. I then pursued training in head and neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, completing my training in 2005. I then served the United States Air Force as Chief of Surgery at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel prior to my Honorable Discharge.
My publications, book chapters, and invited lectures focus on advanced cutaneous malignancy, contemporary treatment of head and neck cancer with a focus on quality outcomes, and physician leadership. I have held several offices in national professional societies but am most proud of my work as the AHNS representative to the Commission on Cancer from 2017-2023.
