  • Dr. Dhanota is a Sports Medicine Specialist who was born and raised in the San Francisco-Bay Area. He completed an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and for a short period of time worked on the first fiberoptic network in the United States as a Project Manager-Electrical Engineer. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Dhanota decided to change career paths and enter the field of medicine. He attended the Medical University of Lublin for his first two years of medical school, followed by two years of medical education at the hospitals of the Weill Medical College at Cornell University. He then returned to Southern California to complete his post-graduate medical education and residency training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA-Kaiser Foundation Hospital Residency Program where he also served as elected Chief Resident. During his post-graduate medical education, he earned numerous awards including the coveted Resident Research Award two years in a row for his work in the field of Sports Medicine. Dr. Dhanota then completed a fellowship in Adult & Pediatric Sports Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia-University of Pennsylvania Sports Medicine Fellowship Progam. Dr. Dhanota is the founder and director of the Regenerative Sports Medicine & Orthobiologics Program at the University of Pennsylvania in which he's developed cutting-edge cell-based treatments for musculoskeletal injuries in athletes. His experience includes work with patients and athletes of all ages including NCAA Division I and professional athletes. He has served as a Team Physician for the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL), Philadelphia Flyers (NHL), and the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA). Dr. Dhanota currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and is a Team Physician for the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he also serves as an Expert Reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine.
