Summary
- As an interventional radiologist, I perform minimally-invasive procedures using needle- and catheter-based techniques which, in many cases, provide an alternative to traditional surgery. These procedures are done through tiny pinholes in the skin without the need for an incision.
My interests include cancers of the liver, kidney, lung, bone, and soft tissues. Using CT, ultrasound, or x-ray, I can guide a needle or a catheter into a tumor and then then burn or freeze it (microwave/cryoablation), administer localized chemotherapy (chemoembolization), or place radioactive particles (Y-90 radioembolization). Many of these procedures can be performed without general anesthesia, on an outpatient basis.
I also have extensive training in complex vascular (arterial and venous) intervention, including dissolving blood clots (thrombolysis), recanalization of occluded blood vessels, angioplasty, stenting, and embolization. I am especially interested in portal hypertension, vascular malformations, May-Thurner syndrome, and pelvic congestion syndrome.
