- Dr. Blackman earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, graduating with honors, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He also completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Additionally, Dr. Blackman is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Dr. Blackman has extensive experience serving as a team physician for various high school, amateur, college and professional sports teams. His areas of expertise include sports injuries and disorders of the shoulder, elbow, knee and hip. He also specializes in minimally invasive and reconstructive surgeries in these areas.
A sampling of the procedures Dr. Blackman performs includes hip arthroscopy for impingement and labral tears, ACL reconstruction, articular cartilage restoration (including microfracture, OATS, and ACI), meniscus repair, shoulder instability repair, rotator cuff repair, and Tommy John surgery.
