Summary
- Living well and dying well together is unique to each person. Andi knows firsthand that communities of choice matter, and that we rarely make decisions for ourselves or the care we hope for in isolation. Chatburn creates a loving space, cultivating fertile ground for courageous conversations to happen among the community of family and friends who care for people facing serious illness. What matters most to you and the ones you love should be the core essence of the care plan we will create, together.
Dr. Chatburn is a seasoned Hospice and Palliative Care physician who believes in honoring the dignity of all people and finding a care plan that helps you come more alive while facing inevitable mortality due to serious illness. Raised in Michigan, she was given the gift of seeing death close up as a young child as she assisted her grandmother, who was a hospice volunteer, and helped care for several aging great-grandparents who died in her formative elementary school years. Seeing death and loving community as a natural part of life shaped her calling in medicine. Studying liberal arts, medicine, and bioethics in the Midwest (Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas), Chatburn has a deep grounding in the essence of Midwest hospitality.
The first decade of her career was shaped in the inner mountain West of Spokane, Washington. The pines, glacial rivers, and animal allies continually teach her what it means to be interconnected with humans and, more than the human world, living in ecosystems. She embraces the call to explore what it means to live well and die well together in the midst of what Elder Joanna Macy calls The Great Turning.
For five years during the pandemic, Dr. Chatburn worked in healthcare administration as a Regional Director for Ethics, serving hospitals across Washington and Montana. She now practices direct concierge hospice & palliative care in the Bay Area.
