- Dr. Castaneda Guarderas was born and raised in Peru, where she received her medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. After graduating from medical school she trained in the Knowledge and Evaluation Research (KER) Unit and worked as a research fellow at the Emergency Medicine Department at Mayo Clinic Rochester. There she focused on translating the best available research evidence into clinical practice through evidence synthesis and through enhancements in the patient-clinician encounter. She is interested in promoting patient-centered approaches, and applying shared decision making and evidence based medicine in Emergency Medicine, particularly in vulnerable population.
