Summary

• Amitha Omonuwa is a certified Physician Assistant who is currently employed by the Lee Physician Group in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, Florida. He has over 8 years of experience in Vascular Surgery, which is the management of arterial and venous diseases. These are patients who are often complex with multiple other co-morbidities such as hypertension, Diabetes, kidney disease and heart disease. This complexity of patients is what drives Amitha's passion for this discipline. He has also acquired real-world experience in general surgery, bariatric surgery, neurosurgery and plastic surgery. All of these experiences combined have molded Amitha into a well-rounded surgical technician and clinician.
  
  Amitha was born in Nigeria to parents who are both community physicians so was raised with a sense of responsibility, compassion and service for the community especially those who are medically underserved. As such, he performed many medical missions in Africa. This sense of community responsibility also carried over to the United States when he moved there as a young adult. As a Physician Assistant student at Emory University, Amitha was intimately involved with several community outreach programs including monthly student-led clinics at the Good Samaritan Health Center in Downtown Atlanta. This program was designed to provide affordable or free healthcare to the indigenous people of inner-city Atlanta. While as a Physician Assistant student and later as a practicing Physician Assistant, Amitha also volunteered with the South Georgia Migrant Farmworker health Program which is conducted in the South Georgia farming communities annually to help provide medical care for the Migrant farm workers in the area.
  
  In his private life, Amitha has a passion for traveling and immersing himself in different cultures. He has visited several countries in Africa, Europe and South America with plans to visit many more in the near future.
