• Physicians: Number of total privileged physicians, which includes employed, individual contract, group contract, and all other physicians with privileges at the hospital.
• Beds: Number of beds regularly maintained (set up and staffed for use) for inpatients. If the hospital owns and operates a nursing home type unit/facility then total facility beds is a combined total of hospital plus nursing home unit/facility beds. Excludes newborn bassinets.
• Area type: Rurality of census tract the hospital is located in, as defined by rural-urban commuting area (RUCA) codes provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
• Hospital type: Type of authority responsible for establishing policy concerning overall operation of the hospital. Types include Non-profit, Veterans Affairs (VA), Public, and Private.
• Primary Service: The category best describing the hospital's type of service provided to the majority of admissions. Types include General/Adult, Psychiatric, Rehabilitation, Children’s, and Cancer Center.
