The Medical Director will play a key role for the Vermont Market in people leadership/management by overseeing the daily clinical functions and coordinate medical teams to achieve the daily goals and overall mission. The medical director oversees and guides the care that is provided, helps define a vision of quality improvement, consults regularly on aspects of organizational function, and serves as direct supervisor of the medical practitioners who provide the direct patient care. The Medical Director promotes excellence in customer service and strives to maintain a cutting-edge work culture by maintaining consistency in all departmental initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides clinical leadership to ensure appropriate policies and practices are administered and enforced to prevent and/or manage such issues
- Monitor, measure, and communicate all clinical, operational, and compliance departments and processes
- Lead the focus and implementation of the organization's culture and strategic plan in a way that aligns to the mission, vision, and values of the company
- Participates in the development and conduct of educational programs
- Analyze overall performance data and develop effective learning tools for providers and the payer as requested
- Participates in administrative decision making and recommends and approves policies and procedures
- Participates in the Quality Assurance process to ensure the appropriateness and quality of medical care and medically related care
- Sets objectives to assure continued success, improvements in quality and outcomes are achieved
- Participates in all leadership and Executive Team meetings
Qualifications and Skills:
• Medical degree required
• Valid medical license required
• 10+ years of clinical medicine experience
• 5+ years of healthcare administration experience
• Ability to travel out of state when requested
• Risk and quality management experience required
• Must have current BLS/CPR certification. (if no patient interaction, not required)
• Must have current TB test and maintain a negative test annually
• Current Hep B test
• Current flu shot
• Unrestricted prescribing and dispensing privileges with DEA licensure required
