Reporting to Medical Director, oversees and ensures high quality, evidence-based, and student-focused care in Core Medical Units of Primary & Urgent Care

• Works closely with Clinical Services Director and other clinical managers on the Clinical Services Management and PC/UC Leadership Team in continually improving our services based on evolving student needs and medical best practices
• Leads Clinician Practice Meetings and other topic-focused clinical committees and/or projects according to interest and experience
• Assists the Medical Director in addressing quality of patient care and patient satisfaction. Is a permanent member of the Clinical Case Review and Quality Improvement Committees.
• Shares responsibility with the Medical Director for providing medical consultation for laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, and physical therapy services.
• May lead UHS response to communicable disease outbreaks, emergency preparedness, and crisis work.

Supervision and Mentorship

• Supervises career and per diem physicians in Primary and Urgent Care Clinics, including recruitment, hiring, credentialing, privileging, orientation, proctoring, and performance appraisal.
• May supervise subordinate managers, including Nurse Practitioner Supervisor and Clinic Lead Physicians.
• Handles HR-related actions such as hiring, development, and discipline per campus policies.
• Works with RN Clinic Managers, Nurse Practitioner Supervisor, and scheduling staff to develop clinician staffing plans, balancing staff needs with timely access to care.

Serves as an expert clinician resource.

• Consults on complex or difficult patient cases. Reviews patient clinical records as part of CCRC and peer review processes.
• Shares responsibility with the Medical Director for responding to student feedback about medical visits to UHS
• Maintains an active clinical practice in Primary and Urgent Care.

Provides strategic leadership

• Participates actively in developing and implementing the UHS (University Health Services) strategic plan within clinical services.
• Works closely with mental health leadership in addressing clinical needs, aiming for seamless integrated care for students.

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Board-certification in an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Primary Care specialty (strongly preferred), OR Board certification in other ABMS specialty with appropriate primary care training/experience. Participation in MOC required.
• Current State of California Medical License and in possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Medical Board.
• Maintains DEA license, BLS and ACLS certification, CURES Registration, and "Qualifications for Physician Employment."
