Family Medicine Hybrid position: ER and Inpatient Northwestern MT CAH

Essentials

Family Medicine hybrid position with emergency medicine and inpatient medicine expertise

Locum / 1099 independent contractor

Certifications / Licensure Required:

BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS

Active DEA

Montana State License or willing to obtain

Dates: Starting first of August for three months, with possible extension.

Duties include: 7 on / 7 off, 12-hour shifts covering emergency department and inpatient services, i.e., rounding, and admissions

Skill and experience

Capable of solo ER coverage, along with procedural skills

Inpatient medicine management

Critical access hospital experience preferred

Compensation & Schedule

Pay: $180/hour

Start/End Date: August 1st to November 1, 2025, with possible extension

Orientation Process On arrival – first day

Work Schedule:

12-hour shifts

7 on and 7 off

Day shifts covered by Physicians; Nights covered by PAs

Facility Information

16-bed Critical Access Hospital

Four ER beds

Two subacute ICU beds. No ventilation management.

Central line placement by our general surgeon or CRNA.

Patient Volume: Average Daily Census: Acute/Observation 5-6, Swing Bed 2-3

Average ER patients in 12 12-hour day shift = 8

Staffing Mix: RN’s on at night (at least 2 for ER/Hospital). Lab and Imaging in-house. CT 24/7 (64 slice). Radiology reads CT’s at time of service.

Can call for other studies if thought to need the result immediately, otherwise they will read as able.

EMR: EPIC provisioned by the local referral center

Other support: Orthopedic surgeon

In-house 64-slice CT with radiologist coverage 24/7

Mobile MRI 3 days/week

Ultrasound M-F 8-5, Not on call.

Long-term care facility with 28 resident beds.

Logistics/Area Information

Air and ground arrangements and at no expense to the physician

Rental car or mileage reimbursement provided

Housing Details: On-site housing is a one-bedroom apartment. It’s a converted Assisted Living space, so it has a full kitchen, is fully furnished, including TV, and has all necessary amenities.

Cell / Internet Service: Verizon works best once you get out of town; service can get sketchy

Pets are not allowed in housing.

Stores/ Grocery /Restaurants: Yes
