The Inova LJ Murphy Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced APP for its growing pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery program. The Inova LJ Murphy Children's Hospital is located on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, a 923-bed medical center serving Northern Virginia, the Washington DC metro area and beyond. The children's hospital is an award-winning 226-bed facility devoted to all aspects of the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults.

APPs can expect to manage a wide variety of complex congenital heart defects in all age populations ranging from neonates to adults, including implantation of assist devices and transplantation.

Additional Requirements:

  • Work schedule: Expect to work 4 days per week, with 10-hour shifts depending on workflow and patient requirements. On-call for OR emergencies every third night and weekend. Holiday coverage will likely involve being on-call from home, based on patient and team needs.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Board Certification: Board Certified Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with RNFA certification. Maintains necessary CME requirements.
  • Experience: 2 years of experience in pediatric/congenital cardiac surgery first assisting, preferred.
  • Licensure: Virginia state license and DEA registration eligible.
  • Certification: BLS, ACLS and PALS
