Job Description:

A vibrant university-based health center in Stony Brook, NY is seeking a Lead Physician to support the health and wellness of a diverse student population. This role blends clinical leadership, direct patient care, and collaboration with a dynamic group of healthcare providers. This is a full-time locum assignment with long-term potential, ideal for those passionate about student health, teaching, and public health initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive primary and urgent care
• Perform pelvic exams, Pap smears, STI screenings, and provide reproductive health counseling
• Collaborate with University Counseling and Psychological Services on integrated care
• Supervise clinical staff including NPs, PAs, and medical residents
• Lead chart reviews, maintain clinical standards, and support training
• Respond to medical emergencies and manage chronic conditions
• Participate in health education, outreach, and wellness initiatives across campus

Qualifications:

• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Current New York State medical license (or eligibility)
• DEA license, BLS/CPR certification required
• Experience in outpatient, student health, or primary care settings
• Experience with reproductive health and inclusive care
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
