Position Summary:

The Neurology Department within the School of Medicine of the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is seeking applicants for a Vascular Neurologist. This physician will provide care at University Medical Center - New Orleans. Appointment will be at the academic rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (non-tenure, clinical track) with rank determined by the candidate’s credentials and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide expert care for patients with cerebrovascular disorders, including ischemic stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, transient ischemic attacks, and related conditions.

· Participate in multidisciplinary care teams, including stroke units.

· Contribute to the development of advanced treatment protocols and quality improvement initiatives in vascular neurology.

· Educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in neurology and related specialties.

· Develop and deliver innovative educational materials and lectures on cerebrovascular diseases.

· Supervise, teach, and mentor neurology residents, vascular neurology fellows and foster their professional growth.

· Participation in medical student education, resident selection and evaluation, as well as involvement in clinically relevant research and scholarship.

· Collaboration in developing a comprehensive stroke center transitioning from the center’s primary status.

· Participate in the training and education of neurology residents, fellows, and medical students, including hands-on procedural instruction, case reviews, and teaching.

Qualifications:

· MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.

· Board Certified in Neurology and Board Eligible/Certified (or equivalent) in the subspecialty of Vascular Neurology.

· Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana before date of hire.

· Commitment to academic medicine and advancing the field of vascular neurology.

· Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research in the field of Vascular Neurology.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to team-based care and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

· A record of academic productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations at conferences, or involvement in clinical trials.

· Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

· Experience in medical education, curriculum development, or program leadership.

· Interest or experience in health services research, outcomes research, or the development of innovative stroke care protocols.
