Departmental Overview
- University Health Services (UHS) serves the campus by providing a comprehensive campus-based health center providing fully accredited primary medical care, counseling and psychological services
- The UC Berkeley Sports Medicine Program is administered through UHS. This key campus program provides comprehensive primary and specialty medical services and access to other important programs for Division I NCAA Intercollegiate Athletes.

Responsibilities
Direct Clinical Care Intercollegiate Athletics & at UHS
- Provide comprehensive sports medicine evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of illness and injuries for UC Berkeley students and intercollegiate athletes in sports medicine settings.
- Serves as designated team physician for assigned sports
Administrative Tasks
- Contribute to the creation and execution of policies and procedures to maintain the highest quality of medical care, minimize risk, and support optimal health and development of student-athletes.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- MD, or recognized equivalent.
- Fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine (strongly preferred), or demonstration of equivalent broad-based experience
Licenses/Certifications
- Current unrestricted active California Medical License
- Board-certification in American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Primary Care specialty (strongly preferred), OR Board certification in other ABMS specialty with appropriate primary care training/experience.
- Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) for sports medicine, or eligible to sit for the CAQ exam
- Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certificate listing UHS address
- Current CURES Registration
- Current AHA-approved BLS training/card
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Requires knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of specialist-level physician duties as well as effective organizational and management skills
- Must maintain standards of professional conduct as published by AMA/CMA.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the Pacific-12 Conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in conducting and publishing research
- Teaching experience with learners at the athletic trainer, medical school, residency or fellowship levels preferred
- Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Training and Experience strongly preferred
- Regenerative Medicine Experience strongly preferred
- Min. of 3 years of Sports Medicine experience practice preferred
- Min. of 3 years of college-level coverage experience preferred
- Min. of 3 years practice of outpatient primary care medicine.
Salary & Benefits

- The budgeted salary range is $245,000 through $295,000.
- This is a 100%, full-time (40 hours per week), career position that is eligible for full UC benefits.
- This position is exempt and paid monthly.
