The laid-back city of Hilo, Hawaii, is built around crescent-shaped Hilo Bay on the coast of the Big Island. The largest city on the island, Hilo is near major attractions such as the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo, the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, and the Lyman Museum. Hilo's newest world-class attraction, the Imiloa astronomy Center, is housed beneath three striking titanium cones representing the three largest mountains on Hawaii Island. Here you can explore and enjoy many natural wonders including Rainbow Falls and Boiling Pots in Wailuku River State Park, beautiful parks, as well as many botanical gardens and orchid farms.
