  • We are seeking a Physician Assistant to work as an integral member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery team at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. The Physician Assistant will be responsible for providing surgical assistance in the OR, Cath Lab and/or bedside, as well as pre and postoperative patient care including test interpretation and patient referral under the responsibility and supervision of the surgeon. The PA will be expected to perform procedures including central line/A line insertions, troubleshooting Swans, ECMO management, IABP management, and be comfortable titrating vasoactive medications. A minimum of two (2) years’ prior experience working as a Physician Assistant in a CT Surgery program within the last six (6) years is required. Endoscopic and open vein harvesting experience is also required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

    • Medical Physician Assistant License
    • Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment.
    • National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment.
    • Must have minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a physician assistant, with at least two (2) years working in a CT surgery program. CT surgery experience must be within the past six (6) years.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
