  • Phoenix Children's is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join their esteemed Neuro-Oncology team here in Phoenix, AZ!

    This APP position will have primary responsibility for the Neuro-Oncology patient population. In addition, the position also provides support for the cancer predisposition program. The Neuro-Oncology Advanced Practice Provider will primarily be responsible for patient care in the ambulatory setting but may also provide select services to patients in the inpatient setting, including rounding and assistance with coordination of care.

    Job Details

    The successful individual is expected to work collaboratively with other providers within the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. Occasional cross-coverage for other oncology services is expected if clinical need arises. Participation in focused quality or research projects, in conjunction with the Neuro-Oncology attending team, is expected.

    1. The position will be a 5-day per week position, without additional weekend or holiday coverage responsibilities.
    2. Outpatient duties include, but are not limited to: evaluating and treating patients, writing chemotherapy orders for planned chemotherapy cycles (inpatient/outpatient), managing outpatient prescriptions and home care orders, performing bone marrow aspirations and biopsies and lumbar punctures with chemotherapy injection, educating patients and their families on active issues and therapeutic changes, participation in neuro-oncology and cancer predisposition clinics and team meetings, interacting with appropriate consultants, assistance with patient data monitoring, and scheduling appropriate follow up for patients.

    Certifications

    • Prior pediatric oncology experience highly preferred, although not required.
    • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association or obtained by start date.
    • Current State of Arizona certification as a Nurse Practitioner or obtained by start date.
    • National board certification to match area of education.

    Education

    • Master’s or Doctorate degree from an Accreditation Commission for Nursing (ACEN) and/or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited graduate school of nursing in Pediatric Acute care, Pediatric primary care or Family Medicine.

    Special Skills

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal communication, and basic computer skills.
