The Department of Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is actively seeking a board eligible/certified Pediatric Surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to join both the Divisions of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Critical Care.
Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH), the flagship hospital in the Arkansas Children’s system, is a 370-bed hospital with an active medical staff of more than 500. It is both an ACS Verified Level 1 children surgery center and trauma center. Additionally, it boasts the area’s only Level IV NICU with more than 100 beds and suites. The ACH campus also houses the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute, which provides infrastructure for clinical and basic science research. Finally, ACH is home to numerous pediatric residencies and fellowships, including an ACGME-accredited pediatric surgery fellowship.
Arkansas Children’s Northwest (ACNW), located in Springdale, is an ACS Level 4 trauma center and serves one of the fastest growing regions in the country. It has state-of-the-art operating rooms and clinic spaces. Expanding surgical critical care services to match growing patient acuity will be a priority.
The applicant must have successfully completed general surgery residency, an ACGME-accredited pediatric surgery fellowship, and a surgical critical care fellowship and be American Board of Surgery certified/eligible. He/she must also have a strong interest in growing a clinical practice as well as a commitment to research, resident and fellow education, and surgical quality.
The successful applicant will join a division with 6 surgeons and numerous advanced practice providers and specialty nurses. A competitive salary and fringe benefits package is provided.
