Job Highlights
Location: Oakland CA
Start Date: Ideally by February but fine with a march or later start
Schedule: M-F 8 hr days, optional half day Saturdays
Work Details:
• Patients per day: 8 patients per clinic half day, 16 patients per full day. Each half day includes 6 return patient appointments and 2 new patient appointments, one for oncology and one for hematology.
• Patient population/age: county patients, majority are Spanish speaking patients. There’s also a large population of African American and Asian American patients
• Department description: outpatient clinic, seeing county patients with a variety of hem/onc diseases. Common to see breast cancers, lung cancers, colon cancers, benign heme cases such as work up for anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, MGUS etc
o Most common cancer is breast cancer, there’s a great breast cancer team to assist
o Second most common seen cancers are lung and colon. Lung cancers cases are usually metastatic. Colon cancer cases are mixed.
• Special procedures: Bone marrow biopsy, but we have IR that can do bone marrows as well
• Skills required:
o Strongly prefer providers with county hospital experience. Not everything at this facility is ‘at their fingertips’ and providers will have to work with various teams and resources to facilitate care.
o Experience with advanced pathology
o Must have strong written skills, particularly with notetaking and patient charts
Practice Setting:
• Clinic
• EMR: EPIC
• Chemo: beacon
Credentialing Timeframe: 60-90 days
