The Physician Assistant provides medical services to patients in treatment under the supervision of a licensed physician. Psychiatric Physician Assistants perform Psychiatric duties, Family Nurse Practitioners perform Primary care duties.

Job Duties:

Works effectively with the facility leadership team to ensure success of the facility by completing the following:

  • Provide all psychiatric and/or medical services within a reasonable and expected medical standards and in conformance with all requirements that may be imposed from time to time by the applicable health licensing boards.
  • Maintain timely, complete, accurate and legible medical records for all patients evaluated and treated by the Physician Assistant.
  • Maintain a licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in state of practice in good standing and maintain continuing education credits in accordance with all applicable State requirements, during the course of employment.
  • Obtain complete and focused evaluations within the regulatory timeframes.
  • Perform complete and focused physical/psychiatric exams within the regulatory timeframes.
  • Provide medication management, which may include psychotropic medication, at all levels of care.
  • Order and obtain appropriate laboratory tests and diagnostics.
  • Assess laboratory test and diagnostics and base clinical decisions on the interpretation.
  • Identify current, potential, and historical health problems.
  • Authorized to initiate sending orders at all facilities including the detox program.
  • Actively participate and recommend care/ treatment in the daily Flash and treatment team meetings.
  • When prescribing medication that needs to be ordered by an MD/ DO, consult with that provider before entering a telephone order. Example—Suboxone in all states, or Benzodiazepines, C-IV, C-III or C-II in FL.
  • Attend mandatory supervisory meeting with physician weekly or as deemed appropriate by the supervising physician or Medical Director.
  • Authorized to sign documents on behalf of the supervising physician, attending physician or other physician under Medical Director’s supervision.
  • May extend standing orders to accommodate patient’s length of stay.
  • Diagnose acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Develop treatment plans which may include pharmacological, non-pharmacological, and educational interventions, as well as follow-ups, consultations and referrals.
  • Initiate, monitor and alter treatment plans within regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide health promotion, medication and disease prevention education.
  • Provide wellness/health maintenance and annual physicals (medical only).
  • Consult and refer to other health-care providers
  • In the event a physician is not available in an emergency situation; the Nurse Practitioner shall take the appropriate measures within his/her scope of practice and make arrangements for the care of the patient(s).
  • Reporting any concerns to immediate supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation Details

$90-110/hour
