  • HERSHEY, PENNSYLVANIA (USA). Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State University College of Medicine is seeking an academic surgical pathologist, non-tenure track, clinician-educator or clinician-scientist, at the Associate or full Professor rank. The successful candidate will provide academic and clinical leadership as Chief of the Anatomic Pathology Division and Vice Chair for Clinical Operations in Anatomic Pathology. Qualified candidates will hold MD or MD/PhD degrees and be board certified in AP or AP/CP from the American Board of Pathology and be eligible for medical licensure in Pennsylvania. Candidates with fellowship training or significant experience in breast, bone & soft tissue, pediatric and gastrointestinal/liver pathology, are of particular interest for this position, although individuals with significant leadership experience will be considered irrespective of subspecialty expertise. The selected candidate should have a record of demonstrated creativity, productivity, leadership, and scholarship.

    The successful candidate will join a strong, collegial department of 40 faculty in Anatomic, Clinical and Experimental Pathology, with a newly established Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics laboratory. We are a growing subspecialty practice with annual surgical pathology volume of approximately 45,000 cases at the quaternary care academic hub: the Hershey Medical Center, Cancer Institute and Children’s Hospital. Penn State Health is a multi-hospital system that encompasses 1 academic site and 4 separately staffed regional community hospitals.   The department has a fully accredited residency program with 16 positions, and 4 ACGME-accredited fellowships. Faculty participate actively, with several leadership roles, in undergraduate and graduate medical education and graduate school teaching. The COM enrolls 150 students per class and boasts an innovative curriculum. Clinical, translational and basic research continues to grow in the Department. Support for collaborative and independent research, including intramural funding, professional development programs, and faculty mentoring is provided. Rank and remuneration determined by qualifications and experience.  The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until filled.
