MAJOR FUNCTION:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to provide comprehensive women’s health care, including prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum services, as well as routine gynecological care. The CNM will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to women’s health, patient education, and the empowerment of women throughout all stages of life..
Gentle Beginnings is a midwifery practice that has been serving the South Jersey community for over 30 years. We emphasize the support of physiologic birth in a hospital setting, prioritize education and emotional support of our patients/families, and strive to maintain a balance between the wholistic care midwives are known for and utilization of medical interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and completed master’s or postgraduate certificate from an accredited nurse midwifery program.
- Prefer 2 years' experience as CNM or two years' experience as L&D RN if no experience as a CNM
Certifications/ Licensure:
- RN licensure in the state of NJ
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Midwife License in NJ
- Certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Provide prenatal care, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care to women with low-risk pregnancies.
- Perform routine gynecological exams, family planning counseling, and contraception management.
- Educate and counsel women on reproductive health, pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.
- Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of mothers during pregnancy and postpartum.
- Work collaboratively with obstetricians and healthcare team members for high-risk pregnancies or complications.
- Support and promote natural childbirth practices when appropriate, while being prepared for medical interventions when necessary.
- Administer medications, including pain management during labor, as per protocols.
- Maintain thorough documentation of patient visits, medical histories, and treatment plans.
- Provide compassionate care and emotional support to women and their families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
- Stay updated on current practices, evidence-based care, and developments in midwifery and women’s health
