Job Summary:
The Department of Surgery at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting an exceptional Reconstructive Microsurgeon to join our Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience. The Division of Plastic Surgery has a busy microsurgery practice focusing on breast reconstruction, lower extremity reconstruction and general reconstruction. The successful candidate would be a key member of the team and will contribute to the three academic missions of our division: Clinical Care, Education and Research. Experience in microvascular breast reconstruction and/or lymphatic surgery is highly encouraged. The successful candidate will also be involved in research as well as resident and medical student education. This position includes potential leadership opportunities in breast reconstruction and microsurgery.
The UW Department of Surgery consists of more than 160 faculty across eleven specialty divisions, performing more than 25,000 operations annually. The Department also trains more than 70 residents and fellows and is consistently ranked amongst the top surgery programs with extramural research funding, currently 7th in the nation according to Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. The department provides a robust infrastructure of services including academic resources such as The Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research Program (WiSOR), which provides support, resources, and a collaborative environment to facilitate surgical health services research at the University of Wisconsin. The Department's Office of Clinical Research provides 24/7, 365 day a year clinical trial coordinator support for Clinical Trials as well regulatory support for research, and the grants management team provides comprehensive pre-award to post- award support. The Surgical Collaborative of Wisconsin also provides access to a network of surgeons throughout the state and this platform provides opportunities for collaborative quality improvement that improves the care of surgical patients throughout the state and region.
Qualifications:
Candidate is required to have or be eligible for Wisconsin and Illinois medical licenses. Board eligibility or board certification in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery through the American Board of Plastic Surgery or equivalent is required. Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges.
Area of Specialization: Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency with Fellowship Training in Microvascular Surgery
Candidates must possess clinical and academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank at the CHS Track that have been previously established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.
