  • The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist to serve as Medical Director of its Division of Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology.

    The University of Minnesota Medical Center is a quaternary care academic institution with a robust pediatric cardiac surgical program. Our pediatric cardiac anesthesiology team provides comprehensive care for patients with both palliative and corrective complex heart conditions, spanning from the interventional suite to the main operating rooms. Our division also plays a key role in the perioperative adult congenital heart disease program defining both our division and the university's strong presence in the field of congenital heart care.

    The Department of Anesthesia is committed to discovery, innovation and compassion in patient care, to research and to the education of future leaders in anesthesiology.

    Areas of focus within the Division are:

    • Patient safety through optimization of hand off processes in both directions (OR to ICU and ICU to OR).
    • Early extubation facilitated by multispecialty planning in the immediate postsurgical period.
    • Bleeding risk after pediatric cardiac surgery and management
    • Close relationship with pediatric intensivists in the pediatric CVICU.
    • Collaboration with our pediatric CT surgeons leading research and quality improvement projects pertaining to congenital heart disease.

    Background Requirements

    • Completion of an accredited ACGME Anesthesiology residency and pediatric anesthesiology fellowship.
    • Board certified in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
    • Pediatric cardiac anesthesiology training preferred.
    • Eligibility to work in the United States.
    • A track record of original research and publications.
    • Eligible for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level.
