Job Summary:

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) is seeking an academic Pediatric Gastroenterologist to assume the role of Division Chief of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. This is an opportunity for a full-time Professor or Associate Professor. We seek a servant-leader with enthusiasm for the academic medical environment. The Division Chief provides strategic and operational leadership, oversees divisional faculty and staff, spearheads the expansion of clinical, education, and research programs, and guides faculty professional development.

The pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition division provides evaluation and treatment for a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver disorders and participates in clinical and translational research. The GI and hepatology team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pediatric dieticians, and a pediatric health psychologist who help manage complex and chronic gastrointestinal diseases. This team offers care through UW Health Kids outpatient clinics, UW Health Kids American Family Children's Hospital, and multiple regional clinics.

The Department of Pediatrics is a vibrant academic department comprising more than 200 faculty members in 16 subspecialty divisions. The department promotes and enhances the health of children through outstanding clinical care, exemplary education of pediatric trainees, performance of cutting-edge research, and vigorous advocacy. Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be an acknowledged academic physician with demonstrated excellence in research, education, service, and/or clinical care. Must possess a record of scholarly achievements, outstanding leadership skills, professionalism, and ability to develop interdisciplinary, collaborative programs.
  • Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Gastroenterology is required.
  • Experience in an academic medical setting is preferred.
  • Candidates for Professor or Associate Professor rank must meet criteria for appointment per UW SMPH guidelines for appointment and promotion on the Tenure track.

Board certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology through the American Board of Pediatrics is required

Candidate is required to have or be eligible for a Wisconsin medical licensure, by start date.
