Job Summary:
The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a stroke neurologist interested in pursuing an academic career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Responsibilities:
In the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) Track, faculty contribute to the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) missions through a scholarly approach. Faculty are expected to promote based on two or more areas: research, teaching, clinical or public health practice, or institutional leadership. Responsibilities typically include 70% clinical care and 30% teaching and/or research and/or service, based on the candidates' areas of interest.
Clinical activities include inpatient services and outpatient stroke clinics at the UW Hospital, William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital or other affiliated locations. Candidates will provide telestroke consultations with regional partners and provide neurohospitalist coverage for general neurology services. Neuro ICU staffed by neuro-intensivists.
If candidates chose to pursue research, efforts could include independent research or collaboration with other established researchers; including not limited to bench science, clinical trials, community-based programs, community health intervention studies, etc.
Teaching efforts would include participation or development of a unique or exceptional teaching program in a clinical or classroom setting, including but not limited to lectures, seminars, one-on-one clinical setting, program or course director, etc. Additional teaching responsibilities would include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows within the context of the candidate's clinical practice.
The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the rank and in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Terminal Degree
MD or DO is required by the start date.
Qualifications:
Must have completed neurology residency.
Stroke, Neurocritical Care or Neurohospitalist fellowship training or equivalent experience required.
For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.
License/Certification:
Required
MD - Physician - State Licensure
Candidates must have WI medical license by the start date. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in one of the following; American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
