University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, in partnership with Holy Cross Health, has an excellent full-time employment opportunity for an experienced, Board-Certified Surgeon to lead the General Surgery Residency program in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The program director will be employed through the University of Miami Department of Surgery with an academic rank commensurate with experience with a clinical practice based at Holy Cross. Job Functions:

  • Maintaining authority and accountability of the program.
  • Enforcing policies and procedures required by governing agencies.
  • Maintaining ACGME accreditation and ensuring program excellence in a patient-centered environment.
  • Recruiting residents into the program.
  • Maintaining the evaluation process for resident performance.
  • Participating in the competency evaluations of residents.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree (M.D. or D.O.)
  • Valid medical license in the State of Florida
  • Current board certification by The American Board of Surgery
  • Five years of experience as a Program Director, Associate Director, or Core Faculty member in an ACGME-approved Surgery residency as well as leadership and administrative experience and the willingness to combine administrative and diagnostic (teaching) responsibilities, preferred.
  • Strong administrative and team-building skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be eligible to obtain hospital privileges at participating institutions and UMMG-affiliated facilities.
