The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of specialists who provide multi-specialty diagnostic services for inpatient and outpatient pediatric patients.
Job Details
- The Hematopathologist must be board-certified or board-eligible in Hematopathology
- Possess a current Arizona License to practice medicine, or the ability to obtain a license before starting.
- The ideal candidate will have a special interest in both neoplastic and non-neoplastic hematologic disorders affecting infants, children and adolescents.
The successful candidate will possess excellence in clinical and scientific knowledge, teaching ability, scholarship and leadership. Responsibilities will also include the sign-out of cytopathology specimens, predominantly from children with leukemia or lymphoma, as well as performing rapid on-site evaluation and sign-out of fine needle aspiration (FNA) specimens, with a case mix of approximately 50% thyroids, 30% lymph nodes and 20%
from various other sites.
Job Qualifications
Additional expertise in cytopathology, primary immune deficiency evaluation and/or minimal residual disease testing is ideal. While not required, candidates with dual subspecialty board certification are encouraged to apply and will have the opportunity to continue practice in their desired fields.
- Experience in or demonstrated commitment to pediatric hematopathology practice
- Experience in gating and analyzing flow cytometry particularly in B-ALL minimal residual disease (MRD) testing
- Familiarity with immunologic disorders and hematologic/lab manifestations as part of the scope of pediatric hematopathology practice
- A desire to contribute to ongoing research and scholarly activity

The Division is integral to diagnosing a wide range of hematologic disorders in infants, children and adolescents. Our team of specialists collaborate closely with the hospital’s world-class clinicians to provide seamless care and contribute to clinical research. Equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, our case mix consists of over 750 peripheral blood smears, 550 bone marrow studies and 1,450 cytology specimens annually.
